FOR CONTEXT...

As well as the work to set out a Design System for Scoota. I spent a great deal of my time working with the Product Manager and Engineers to create new workflows and features. Visit Scoota

AS A FREELANCE PRODUCT DESIGNER…
  • I created wires & user flows

  • I defined the visual language & Ui

  • Worked closely with the Product Manager 

  • Reported to the CTO

  • Worked closely with the Engineers to develop a new DLS.

AS A CROSS-FUNCTIONAL & AGILE TEAM...

A lot of time was spent with engineers, product manager and other stakeholders at a whiteboard discussing flows, wires frames and so forth and how best to tackle each of the 3 key product pillars...CREATE / DISTRIBUTE / ANALYSE

THE CREATE PRODUCT PILLAR...

was where Scoota wanted to build a creative toolkit into its platform to automate the build of ads, across a full range of digital formats.

Here you can see see the Creative Toolkit designs I worked on. This was the UI to enable customers to turn their PSDs into fully functioning HTML5 ads.

As part of the “Create” umbrella, I was also tasked with creating a responsive HTML5 video player to work across device and format.

THE DISTRIBUTE PRODUCT PILLAR...

was the engine room of the product app, this was where marketeers, ad ops manager and alike would spend most of their time building their ad campaigns.

 

Largely made up of tables & complex forms, the key was to distil workflows and data into easily input forms and manageable UI’s to relay what was happening in the system.

THE ANALYSE PRODUCT PILLAR...

had the ability to see how ads are performing by visualising “Creative hotspots” understanding ”Video Completion Rates” and a report builder that can create extensive report breakdown across ads, strategies & domains

We were looking to push our report builder to be much more visual than the industry standard of CSV files and reams of data (of course, these types of downloads were still offered).

 

We started to build “overlay reporting” where data would be visualised over ads and videos that had been served.

LOOKING BACK & REFLECTING...

This was one hell of a complex and HUGE platform that the guys and girls at Scoota were trying to build. It was a team that was so much fun to be apart of, and I learnt so much here.

 

It was my first time of working in a fully agile time with an agile coach etc. It really opened my eyes to how I could improve my own working practices.
